The other day I read Ajit's post on his stint with dancing, it got me thinking about mine...
I should tell that dancing and me are like, say, simply a cat and rat or any fancy antagonistic comparison you can come up with...I always feel that when I dance, it looks like a guy trying to imitate girl's way of dancing!!I dont have those graceful movements that a dancing damsel should have.
I still remember, when I was in 8th Std, that was in the year 1997, the year of golden jubilee year of our independence..and our school, Alvernia MHSS, was supposed to give a performance in the celebrations in VOC park in front of some state minister, collector and some bigshots and a lot of crowd..When I heard that some sort of dance was involved, I promptly crawled back from the event. But my physical instructions teacher, Mrs.Thangam, told me" child, why are you not having an enthusiasm in this? This is our independence's golden jubilee...imagine when our independence's centenary celebrations come up you'll be something like 63 years old, you can very proudly tell your grand children, that you participated in a butterfly dance in the golden jubilee...just think of that".....(oh yeah right!!)
And yes, people here I come, I did join that dance, but for what or rather whom?Absolutely for my lovely grandchildren(!!!)
And during the practice sessions, hmm...do i really have to write all these embarassing stuff...big deal....
And during the practice sessions, I was trying some limb-shaking thing and called it dance. My tutor then, Ms.Ambujavalli told me, "Divya, listen, dance like a girl"....Ultimate insult...I gave her a paavama-illaya-enna-partha look, but anyway I tried and somehow managed.By the way, Ms.Ambujavalli is one of my favourite teachers....
But vidhi yaara vittadhu...
My second year in college....
Fresher's party given by our seniors in Jenny club...
There were some games going on, and all girls wearing high heels slippers were called upon the stage...And till date I curse myself for wearing those pair of slippers that day, and also KD to have pushed me onto the dias saying that my slipper's heels were high enough...
And guess what, all 5 or so us were asked to dance!!!And to my horror, I found that all the other four girls were natural dancers and were rocking with the music. And i was standing there dumb, bewildered. Somehow I did mustered courage and left the dias...boy, wasn't it embarassing....
Some of my friends say that, this is because I am too self-conscious.
And in all the industrial visits, the bus would rock with music, and all girls and guys would be dancing and hip-hopping, but by now I 've learnt not to be embarassed of my inability to join that kind of fun, rather, I would sit, encourage, watch and enjoy the dance....

Hey me just got bac from B'lore/..comin to blore agn comin thurs...till when r u der?
Nice post. I am extremely relieved to know that I am not the only one out here who is having second thoughts on whether I was "born to dance".. My dance is a hybrid between someone suffering from fits.. kaakavali.. and jumping randomly with a bit of leg shaking as if theres a cockroach in my pants.. Now if that isn't funny, then nothing is.. :| Might as well blog bout it.. Thanx :)
P.S: Senthil ur name is misspelt in Tamil. Just check it out.
Narasimhan>>How did i find your name..hmm..from the world wide web only...actually, venkat(theultimatereality)refers to u as narasu, so i figured out your name should be narasimhan..only that i got the spelling wrong...
